Court overturns TimeGate vs Southpeak arbitration decision

This week brings another twist in the long-running legal tussle over Section 8 between developer TimeGate and publisher Southpeak Interactive.

The latest ruling in the eventful saga, as reported by Gamerlaw, is a Texan court's decision to overturn an arbitration which ruled in Southpeak's favour.

TimeGate initiated the case by challenging the arbitration, which had awarded Southpeak $7.3 million in damages.

The judge found that the arbitrator hadn't abided by the conditions laid out in the contracts between the two companies - but fear not, fans of legal messes. Southpeak is free to appeal the decision. Again.

Going further back in time; the whole argument was sparked when Southpeak acquired Section 8 publisher Gamecock; neither TimeGate nor Southpeak were happy with the game's performance, and each sued the other for various forms of financial skullduggery.
