Control is the new game from the creators of Alan Wake and Max Payne
Control is the latest game from the creators of Alan Wake and Max Payne - and it looks to be continuing the studio's tradition of bad-ass shooting with extra powers on top.
It hasn't been all that clear what Remedy Entertainment would do next after they wrapped up Quantum Break and with it their closely-held relationship with Microsoft - but now we knot their next project, Control, will be hitting PlayStation 4 as well as Xbox and PC - and it even made its debut at Sony's E3 showcase event.
Publisher 505 Games describes Control as a third-person action-adventure game, and the earliest footage of the game as shown at Sony's event show that it fits right in with the rest of Remedy's catalog.
Their action-packed third person shooters always have an additional gimmick beyond gunplay - in Alan Wake it's using light as a weapon, Max Payne dives around in slow motion and Quantum Break sees you bend time to your will. Here, it appears the protagonist has the powers of telekinesis. Here's a description of the game straight from the publisher:
"After a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, players will take on the role of Jesse Faden, the new Director struggling to regain Control. This sandbox-style, gameplay-driven experience built on the proprietary Northlight engine challenges players to master a combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments while fighting through the deep and mysterious worlds Remedy is known and loved for."
Control is directed by Quantum Break director Mikael Kasurinen, and at a glance it certainly seems like some lineage is shared with that game, including in technology. The reveal trailer is pretty stunning - check that out for yourself and a bunch of the very first screenshots below.
Control is slated for PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2019 - we'll bring you more news on it as we get it.
