EA adds free agent Colin Kaepernick to Madden 21, free weekend coming

Colin Kaepernick has returned to a Madden game for the first time since the 2016 season.

EA has announced Colin Kaepernick has returned for Madden 21 as a free-agent quarterback.

The news was announced today on Twitter by the official Madden account.

Kaepernick has been a free agent since the end of the 2016, and is a political activist known for kneeling during the national anthem.

"Colin Kaepernick is one of the top free agents in football and a starting-caliber quarterback."The team at EA SPORTS, along with millions of Madden NFL fans, want to see him back in our game. We’ve had a long relationship with Colin through Madden NFL and worked through our past soundtrack mistakes.

"Knowing that our EA SPORTS experiences are platforms for players to create, we want to make Madden NFL a place that reflects Colin’s position and talent, rates him as a starting QB, and empowers our fans to express their hopes for the future of football. To celebrate his return to the franchise, Madden NFL 21 will be free-to-play starting this Thursday, September 10 through Sunday, September 13.
