CoD: Modern Warfare Remastered DLC's ridiculously high price ticks off community
Activision isn't making any friends with $15 CoD: Modern Warfare Remastered map pack.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered was packed in with Infinite Warfare when it released last year. It was the new title's Trojan Horse, that you couldn't pick up without Activision's CoD in space.
That may have been a bone of contention with some, but now that the Variety Map Pack has dropped for PC and Xbox One, players are getting riled up once more.
The map pack released for PS4 last month and includes four upgraded maps and 10 Rare Supply Drops. The supply drops alone are worth $20, so getting them for $15 along with four maps is meant to be value for money. But the comments on the Activision blog announcing the DLC in March are being echoed once more. Over on Reddit, people are failing to see anything other than a grab for cash.
The first time around, the maps were free on PC and were $5 less on console - or so says the thread. I don't remember myself, but we'll take their word for it.
Aside from the price point, there are grumbles that the whole point of a remaster is to encompass all of the DLC for the game. Although as another commentor points out, "it was basically a $20 bonus. If it were a normal remaster that had everything expected of it then it would sell for $50-60 outright. In fact I fully expect them to eventually sell the Remastered version with everything for full price.
"It's kind of a genius/diabolical move. It convinces people to buy Infinite Warfare that may not want to and gives them another revenue stream through MW DLC."
Where do you land on this? Is Activision playing silly buggers? Is the problem exacerbated by the eager beavers who are actually forking out for this? Is horse armour the root of all evil? Chime in below.
