Emotions I felt on hearing that Firaxis was bringing Civilization World to Facebook: dread; horror; repulsion and fascination. Emotions I feel having seen the trailer through the cut: relief; burgeoning hope and anticipation.
The trailer finally answers the question of how exactly the Civ experience can be boiled down for social networking, and while there's still a tang of farming and limited actions around it, you can see something interesting taking shape. Players will be able to form nations and compete over eras, and collaborate in ways that look genuinely new in the social sphere.
