Rayark sound director resigns due to pressure from China over his personal politics

Rayark Games sound director Ice recently announced that he had resigned from the mobile rhythm game studio due to the increase in pressure from China over his personal political beliefs.

Ice published a statement on his Twitter page explaining why he chose to resign. You can check it out below.

"Hello everyone, Ice here," he wrote. "I have always been making posts in English, with little supplements in Chinese for specific purposes. Today, I am making a statement in both languages regarding the recent situation."

"First of all, I want to thank all of you who approached me for my well-being," he added. "I am now making this statement very calmly."

Apparently, Ice published a statement on July 18 at around 5am in the morning. It was picked up by a variety of media outlets, and he wanted to expand on his words with a new statement published in both Chinese and English.

"Since I have not made the statement in English, I shall recap it here," Ice wrote. "A musical piece that I released in March 2020 has created heated debate. As this was a personal activity, related neither to Rayark Games nor the job duties of my position in Rayark Games, I have raised my resignation from Rayark Games immediately."

"The musical piece in concern was titled, 'Telegraph: 1344 7609 2575," which was released under a digital EP called 'Consciousness,'" he added.

"In the song, there was a Morse code that could be translated into a series of numbers in telegraph format, and could be further decoded into Chinese characters, having a meaning that the media has already covered."

According to the Global Times - a paper from China - Ice had implemented the Hong Kong secessionist slogan into the track, meaning that the Morse code could be directly translated to, "Liberate Hong Kong, revolution of our times."

Back in April, the Chinese government banned Animal Crossing: New Horizons after Hong Kong protesters used it to create political content.
