Check Out the First 30 Minutes of Chrono Trigger Successor I am Setsuna in Action

Square Enix established the Tokyo RPG Factory studio for the express purpose of creating games that deliberately look back to the publisher's most beloved classics — not to create sequels, exactly, but to produce new works that carry forward the spirit of those classics.

The studio's first effort, I am Setsuna. (yeah, there's a period in there, like the exclamation points in Punch-Out!!) debuts in the U.S. today on PlayStation 4. And it is, without question, based on Super NES classic Chrono Trigger. From the battle system to the world map style to the atmospheric music, the game wears its influences on its shoulders. Is that a good or bad thing, though? Our review will run soon, but in the meantime, you can check out the game's opening chapter here:

It definitely starts strong. Whether it can maintain interest for 20-30 hours, however, is a different matter altogether. We'll weigh in once we have a chance to see how it holds up for ourselves.
