Changes made to Civilization V with Gods and Kings expansion were community-driven

Ed Beach, lead designer on Civilization V and its expansion Gods and Kings, has told Joystiq the team made three changes to the game based on community feedback: AI no longer holds grudges; religion, diplomacy and combat were added or overhauled; and the combat tech tree doesn't contain "dead ends" anymore.

Producer Dennis Shirk added that some of the specific changes will affect some of the naval units, which now have melee abilities which will come in handy when invading cities are being bombarded with cannons and the like.

The ability to stack units is now more flexible, and espionage can be planned using one screen without the need for units on the board.

Upon its release in late spring, Gods and Kings will include 27 new units, 13 new buildings and nine new Wonders.
