CES 2014: SteelSeries announces wireless 'Stratus' controller for iOS, out today

SteelSeries has lifted the curtain on its wireless iOS controller - dubbed 'Stratus - at CES 2014 in Las Vegas.

It follows Wikipad's Gamevice pad for Windows Phone and Android.

In a press release sent to VG247 this morning, SteelSeries confirmed that the Stratus will work with iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch devices running iOS 7.0 and beyond over Bluetooth. Up to four controllers can be connected to a single Apple device at any one time. It is also said to boast over ten hours of battery life on a single two-hour charge.

In a statement, SteelSeries CEO Bruce Hawver said, "The Stratus Wireless Controller, the first wireless gamepad controller ever to be supported in iOS 7, forever alters the mobile gaming landscape. With Stratus, gamers have easy and direct access to a growing roster of great games on iPad that were intended for an immersive, controller-enabled experience. We’re incredibly excited to be the first gaming peripherals company to develop a standalone controller for iOS devices and are thrilled to see an abundance of high quality game titles rolling out from publishers everyday.”

The Stratus features pressure-sensitive face and shoulder buttons a d-pad, and can be bought from today for £89.99 over at the official SteelSeries website.
