CD Projekt "actively working" on bringing new releases to GOG.com

GOG.com has announced it's planning to add newer titles to its digital catalogue of retro games in 2012.

The firm will continue to add older classics as well, but according to CD Projekt's Guillaume Rambourg, the firm is "actively working" to sign newer titles as well.

“We have an audacious plan for the next two years to continue GOG.com's success story,” said Rambourg during a CD Projekt RED Conference in Poland.

"We will be adding newer games into the catalogue in 2012. Traditionally, GOG.com has looked for great classics that are three years old or older. We will continue to add classic games, of course, but we are actively working to sign newer titles now."

Rambourg conceded that the newer titles would come with higher price points, compared to the retro game pricing in place, but the "core values" which made GOG a success story will stay in place.

“Completely DRM-free games, flat prices everywhere in the world, and extra content and goodies for our fantastic customers," said Rambourg. “We want to work closely with ambitious developers and independent publishers who feel a kinship with that 'good old spirit' that GOG.com embodies.

“Thanks to the commercial success of The Witcher 2 on GOG.com, more and more people realize that our values are universal. They are coming to GOG and asking if we can carry their titles. We’ve made GOG.com the destination for classic PC games, but now is the time to take this to the next level and emerge as the best alternative digital distribution platform for all PC games.”

Rambourg said the digital service has been profitable since its first month on the market, and the webiste has garnered 1 million visitors every month and over six million games have been downloaded through the GOG client.

Thanks, MCV.
