CCP design director jumps ship for Bigpoint
EVE Online veteran Craig Scott has left CCP to join German MMO developer Bigpoint Games.
Formerly CCP's design director, Scott will now serve as Bigpoint's lead designer, according to an announcement on Bigpoint's website.
Scott will be working on a new game, Bigpoint said.
Scott's credits include stints at Core on Tomb Raider and RealTime Worlds on All Points Bulletin, as well as CCP's EVE Online and DUST 514. He is credited with helping the PS3 shooter gain popularity after a troubled start.
"Bigpoint has major experience in the future sector of free-to-play, online games. Furthermore, I expect to have much space for trying new things, which is a premise for making really innovative games and which, of course, means a lot of fun for both the teams and the users. That’s what I see Bigpoint is currently about," Scott said in a statement.
Bigpoint produced and manages a large stable of browser-based MMOs, the most prominent of which are probably Battlestar Galactica Online and Drakensang Online. It's believed to be working on a Game of Thrones title.
Thanks, MCV.
