Cave CEO resigns, cites personal reasons

Cave, the Japanese-based studio responsible for some of the most explosive and intense scrolling shooters of our day has suffered several high-profile resignations in the past few months. CEO & president Ito Masahito is the latest to depart.

Masahito will leave Cave after his three month notice period, prompting board chairman Kenichi Takano to step in as the company's new president.

He follows COO Mikio Watanabe who resigned in May, who also cited personal reasons for his departure.

GI.biz reports that Cave recently stated that it would shift its focus away from the niche shooter market and into social gaming, following a poor financial year.

Cave's recent work, Deathsmiles, DoDonPachi Resurrection and Akai Katana have all scored well at review, but have failed to set retail alight.
