Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night spiritual successor that had one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns, was due for release sometime in 2017.

This supposed release window will not be met, as a new Kickstarter update has revealed. Instead, the game is now due for release in the first half of 2018. Just like the original date, this is just an estimate.

Creator Koji "IGA" Igarashi said this delay was decided on as a result of bringing additional developers on board and to ensure the final product meets the developer's quality standards.

"I apologise for the wait. However, I'd like to emphasise that I made this decision to absolutely guarantee the game is done right the first time," said IGA.

"The last thing I want to do is keep our backers waiting, but after receiving such incredible support, I feel responsible for delivering the best product I possibly can. Again, I offer my sincerest apologies."

Back in June, just after E3, IGA released an early playable demo of Bloodstained to those who backed it at $60 or above. The demo received largely positive feedback, even if it was early.
