Capcom bans Street Fighter 5 stage from pro gaming competition
Sometimes, unique ideas which are exciting for casual multiplayer matches can become downright devastating if professional careers are on the line. Capcom has decided this is absolutely true of Street Fighter 5's "Skies of Honor" stage, which is now banned from the Capcom Cup tournament for being too distracting.
Skies of Honor is a DLC level which takes place overtop Dubai on Rashid's private airplane. As reported by Polygon, the stage creates a major hurdle for pro gamers as the plane slowly tilts and weaves across the sky. The visual disorientation - shown in the video above - can absolutely distract players from landing crucial blows on opponents. I mean, I personally felt a little airsick just watching the video.
Skies of Honor is the second Street Fighter 5 DLC level to be banned from tournament play. Kanzuki Beach was removed from the roster after it was pointed out that water in the background actually obscures low-traveling projectile attacks. Outside of Capcom Cup 2016, the maps will also not be featured in the upcoming Capcom Pro Tour season.
