Capcom announces Ixion Saga

Capcom has revealed the title behind its mysterious May trademark - the online multiplayer PC game Ixion Saga.

Andriasang noted the new game in this week's Famitsu.

Ixion Saga will feature eight versus eight team PvP, as well as giant monster enemies, which sounds like PvE, for those who prefer co-op.

Players will use swords, magic and guns, and there will be three respective default character types - Striker, Caster and Blaster.

Apparently, you'll be able to form "unions" with other players, but it's not clear if the refers to clans, matchmaking, or some other mechanic.

The game is going tino alpha testing in Japan on July 28, but as there's been no official Western reveal, this could be a Japan-only dealio.

Is it an MMO? An action combat game? An RPG? One of those MMOARTS things? Who knows. We'll see what we can find out, and we may learn more at the San Diego Comic Con. GoNintendo is citing a trusted source on a reveal at the late July event, following a relatively quiet E3 showing.

Capcom has seen major success with on line multiplayer through its Monster Hunter series.
