Canabalt goes open source
Canabalt developer Semi Secret has open-sourced its iOS auto-running hit.
Saltsman offered apologies to anyone using the open source code, though.
"We wanted to offer our condolences to everyone who downloads this and goes poking around in there," he wrote in a blog post.
"This was a rushed Flash game, ported, in a rush, to the iPhone, before iPads or iPhone 4s even existed.
"We try very hard to stay up to date and do good work, but we're just two dudes - it's possible, if not likely, that some of the way we do things is not ideal or optimal."
Upcoming updates to the source code include 60FPS support and Retina Display support for iPhone 4.
The game's sold 225,000 since its release in 2009. Creator Adam Saltsman created the prototype for the game in five days, while Semi Secret co-founder Eric Johnson ported it to iOS in ten days.
