Call of Duty: World at War is now backwards compatible for Xbox One
If you were excited when Call of Duty 3 became Xbox One backwards compatible, you'll be pleased to hear another Treyarch game just made the cut. Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb announced that Call of Duty: World at War is now backwards compatible, meaning you can play it from your Xbox One using a classic 360 disc or as a digital purchase.
World at War was the last Call of Duty title to directly address World War II, shifting its focus towards the Eastern Front and Pacific Campaign. Treyarch also used World at War to introduce Nazi Zombies mode, which quickly grew to become one of the franchise's most popular features - to say nothing of its impact on the entire game industry.
Hryb also added that all backwards compatible Call of Duty games can now be directly purchased through the Xbox One. For the record, that full list includes:
- Call of Duty 2
- Call of Duty 3
- Call of Duty: World at War
- Call of Duty: Black Ops
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to start gaming like it's 2008 all over again.
