Call of Duty: Warzone's infinite revive exploit fixed
Call of Duty: Warzone players have stumbled upon a nasty revive exploit, which was thankfully quickly fixed.
Update: Developer Infinity Ward rolled out a playlist update yesterday to fix exploits that allow players to counter the damage of the gas ring.
Though the developer didn't specify whether this particular glitch is the one in question, it's good to see the team quick to react to these problems.
Original story: Call of Duty: Warzone has only been out for less than two days, and already, we have our first exploit. Reddit user Mightykonsti accidentally discovered it with their teammate, and decided to share it with the rest of us.
Similar to other battle royale games, the play area in Warzone's battle royale mode is constantly shrinking. In Warzone, this takes the form of a ring of gas that kills anyone caught within it for long enough. Unlike other forms of damage, gas damage passes through armour and eats at your HP at a rapid pace.
The only way to delay this is to find a gas mask, which is a relatively rare drop. Even then, your gas mask will buy you a few more seconds at most.
Unfortunately, what Mightykonsti and their teammate discovered is that you can revive inside the gas ring essentially infinitely. So long as one team member is alive, everyone can rotate dying/being revived until all other players in the match are dead, earning them the win.
In all battle royale games, players have a separate HP bar when they're down-but-not-out, to give them a chance to retreat. In most of those games, however, players get back up at a set HP value so they're not immediately a threat.
When a player is revived in Warzone, they don't get back up at a set HP value. Instead, they return using whatever HP salvaged from the downed state. In other words, the faster your teammate revives you, the more HP you'll have. PUBG, for instance, gets around this by making every death past the first more and more lethal, reducing players' downed health each time.
Warzone does not currently have a similar feature, which means - so long as your teammates are close by - you can just keep reviving each other until the end of the match.
You can watch Mightykonsti's video above. Keep an eye on the HP gauges for both players to understand how this happens. Players also recently identified a big advantage to owners of the full game in Warzone, because of the ability to call in multiplayer loadouts.
