Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trailer sets up the story and the main players
The latest Call of Duty: Modern Warfare trailer is our deepest look yet at the game's narrative.
Infinity Ward has dropped a new behind-the-scenes trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, focusing entirely on the single-player campaign. Although we were recently given a fresh look at it, the story has largely been under wraps.
This new trailer explores how the developer worked to craft an experience that's authentic to some of the modern-day conflicts it's inspired by. Despite this, the team went with a fictional country that you could probably see as a stand-in for Syria or Afghanistan.
The campaign is presented from three different perspectives. One follows an SAS counter-terrorism operative, another a CIA agent embedded with freedom fighters, and the third giving you control of the leader of said freedom fighters.
The trailer also reveals that actor and writer Brian Bloom, who contributed to Infinite Warfare - not to mention playing its lead - is returning for Modern Warfare. Infinity Ward consulted with retired veterans and war correspondents, which hopefully means the story's take on current events will be nuanced.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out October 25 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
