Here's our first look at ray tracing in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's campaign

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward is bringing ray tracing to the game's story campaign.

Ahead of gamescom 2019's kick off, we now have our first look at ray tracing in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Nvidia confirmed that Modern Warfare will feature ray-traced shadows, available in the single-player campaign as well 2v2 Gunfight mode in multiplayer.

This sadly means the bigger multiplayer modes will be left out, but the performance hit likely made that impossible. In today's first look, we get a brief trailer showing off a scene from the campaign, as well as few seconds of Gunfight.

Shadows are noticeably deeper, more realistic in both instances, thanks to ray tracing. You can check out the video below, as well as a couple of comparison screenshots.

We're expecting a special Modern Warfare announcement at today's Opening Night Live, with many hoping it'll be a fresh look at the game's campaign.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out October 25 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Activision did not say if ray-tracing will be available at launch.
