Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - watch Infinity Ward art director dodge the battle royale question

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward is decidedly tight-lipped about the idea of having a battle royale mode.

Even though Activision has officially confirmed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare would have 100-player game modes, neither the publisher nor Infinity Ward have specifically listed battle royale among them.

When we attended the recent multiplayer reveal event, members of the development team were being very coy. "Oh it’s not a battle royale," multiplayer design director Geoff Smith told us when asked if having maps that support 100 players means we're getting a battle royale mode.

Now, in Game Informer's rapid fire interview with studio art director Joel Emslie, a similar answer was provided. The video, however, gets across something written text cannot: the body language.

"We'll have to wait and see," Emslie says when asked if Modern Warfare has a battle royale. When pressed whether he'd like to see a battle royale mode in the game, Emslie simply replied, "I personally like that game mode."

All throughout, you can easily see how he's trying to be very careful not to outright state battle royale isn't coming, nor hint that it is. This is usually what happens when you're talking about an unannounced feature, or one you're not sure will make the cut.
