Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War patch nerfs the MP5 SMG
It looks like the MP5's reign of terror in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War might be over.
After telling players not to expect any major balance tweaks until December, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War co-developer Treyarch has gone ahead and made the one balance change most have been clamouring for.
That, of course, is a nerf to the MP5 SMG, or Submachine Gun Alpha as it's known in game.
As for what those tweaks actually entail, Treyarch said the MP5's base effective damage range has been cut by 33%, which should bring it more in line with other SMGs. The gun's initial recoil has also been "adjusted."
The new values are now live on all platforms, but it's a little early to tell whether the attempt has been successful.
If you're looking to take a break from Black Ops Cold War multiplayer, the game's single-player campaign is full of surprises that aren't typical for Call of Duty. We've prepared two very helpful guides for the campaign's trickiest missions: Operation Chaos and Operation Red Circus.
