Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 update doubles loot box earn rate, makes them available at every tier past 100
Just a few days after loot boxes made their way into Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, developer Treyarch has made a few adjustments to make the system fairer and more rewarding.
In what's starting to become a pattern for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Treyarch has tweaked the game's recently added Cases system following universal fan outcry.
Cases, the game's version of loot boxes, were added as part of the Grand Heist update. Players were able to earn them as part of the Contraband progression system, as well as by playing the game regularly.
Immediately after release, players called out the inclusion of loot boxes in a game already monetising its content post launch with a season pass, a battle pass-style system, and paid cosmetics. The rate at which players earned Cases during gameplay was also slow.
In an update released on Friday, Treyarch made it so Cases are now part of the Contraband tier progression stream beyond tier 100. The same goes for daily tier skips, which once again work post-100. Beyond that, the developer doubled the earn rate overall outside of the Contraband system.
For players who already reached tier 100, Treyarch will retroactively award them all Cases they would have earned under the new rules. In other words, a case for every tier completed in Grand Heist past 100.
The update also added the World League hub, and launched the Hot Pursuit mode for Blackout. Check the Reddit post for the full change log.
