Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Zombies Tips – Shadows of Evil, Gobblegum

Drink Perk-a-Cola, chew some Gobblegum and outlast the zombie horde!

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies mode, Shadows of Evil, takes place in the fictional Morg City and features the following characters: the Femme Fatal, The Magician, The Cop and The Boxer. Players team up to destroy progressively difficult waves of zombies while taking advantage of an XP-based progression system, different weapons, Perks and a new power-up called Gobblegum. Additionally, players can transform into The Beast, granting the user with exciting powers.

This feature provides tips for Shadows of Evil. We’ll tell you how to turn into The Beast, earn lots of cash, and defeat the different zombies you’ll encounter.

Earning Cash

You receive money in Shadows of Evil from damaging and killing zombies, and repairing barricades. Use cash in Zombies mode to purchase new weapons, open doors, activate traps and acquire Perk-a-Cola upgrades and Gobblegum.

To make lots of cash in Black Ops 3 Zombies, prolong a zombie’s demise. Blast its limbs for a bit and then deliver the final blow to put more virtual dough into your pockets.

When it comes to opening doors, you may need to switch on a device instead of using money.

Use the Train

Treyarch divided Morg City into the following three districts: Footlight, the Canal and Waterfront, connected via a central hub called The Junction. Moving between districts is dangerous on foot, and players who wish to cover a lot of ground in the quickest time possible should take the Train.

Pay the required fee to ride to the desired district; you’ll need to request the Train. This is ideal for when you need to reach a specific Perk machine or want to make a quick escape from the zombie horde. That said, some enemies will follow.

Weapons

You’ll discover a huge variety of weapons in Black Ops 3 Zombies, all of which you can customize while in the Zombie lobby; you can even switch paint jobs. At the beginning you can only add two attachments and a sight. Play for a while and you’ll unlock different classes and attachments. To unlock attachments for a weapon, you must individually level up the gun.

You find weapons two ways. With Wall Weapons, you can walk up to and purchase the desired gun and ammo reloads. Mystery Box weapons are a whole other matter. These contain some of the most powerful guns in Shadows of Evil, and you’ll need to use Stone Markers to locate them.

Mystery Boxes appear randomly throughout Morg City and you’ll need to spend cash to pick up their contents. You will also need to pay money to reload these weapons, and for this reason, we suggest playing it safe by focusing more on Wall Weapons.

Killing Zombies

Running around puncturing zombies with bullets is a lot of fun, but you’ll live a bit longer using these strategies when dealing with the undead.

First, go for headshots whenever you can. It’s the quickest way to kill a monster. Second, try and group zombies together, preferably in a circle. This cuts down on stragglers and gives your team the chance to explore. This won’t work with all creature types.

There’s also something to be said for keeping zombies alive, as weird as this may sound. By leaving a couple of enemies shambling around, you’ll have more time between waves, so pick up new weapons, stock up and get Gobblegum.

Turning into The Beast

To enter beast mode, walk over to and interact with the burning purple brazier. While playing as The Beast, you are much faster and more powerful than in human form. Pressing the left trigger lets you unleash a blast of electricity, while hitting the right trigger allows you to grapple targets.

Pressing Jump turns you into The Beast, while Crouching makes your character human again. Remember you only have a limited amount of time to be this creature.

Most importantly, your human body remains behind, so it’s important to tell fellow teammates when you plan to become The Beast, and have them guard your body. When you return to human form, you produce a blast that will push away nearby zombies.

Enemy Types

There’s more to worry about than simple run-of-the-mill zombies. Parasites fly all over the place. They’re tough to kill with certain weapons, and there’s a good chance you’ll be too distracted to notice the zombies creeping up behind you. It’s best to have one (no more than two) person take them down.

Insanity Elementals roll towards their targets and then explode; you’ll see these critters fall from the sky. Kill them from range.

Lastly, we have the Margwa, a large monster that charges. Keep your distance and blast the yellow target in its mouths.

Perks

Find Perk-a-Cola machines in Morg City to receive useful power-ups. You can only hold four Perks at one time and they are permanent. Perks include the following:

  • Speed Cola: Speeds up weapon reloading.
  • Widow’s Wine: This grenade sticks to a zombie and then produces a strong web that traps nearby enemies.
  • Quick Revive: Offers one free self-revive.
  • Jugger-Nog: Makes you tougher to kill, but not invincible.
  • Mule Kick: Carry three weapons.
  • Stamin-Up: Increases sprint time, letting you run for longer periods.
  • Double Tap Root Beer: Allows you to fire more bullets without wasting more ammunition.

Gobblegum

Gobblegum is another type of power-up, but single use. Some remain active for a specific period of time. Another type lasts from round to round, and the final type will only switch on when something specific happens, purchasing a wall weapon, for example.

Before playing Black Ops 3 Zombies, customize your Gobblegum pack by selecting five different types. Only a few will be available at first, but leveling up results in more. Select Gobblegum that works for your style of play, or a combination that’ll benefit the entire team. You can create five different packs of Gobblegum and swap them in and out.

To use Gobblegum, you must find a Gobblegum Vending Machine and pay money for a random flavor. We’ve heard of machines not working, by the way, so don’t expect a piece of Gobblegum each time.

Power-ups

You will also receive power-ups for killing enemies. These items appear randomly and immediately activate. The list includes:

  • Double Points: Score twice as many points.
  • Insta-Kill: All it takes is one shot or melee attack to kill something.
  • Max Ammo: Everyone receives full ammunition for all of their weapons.
  • Nuke: Takes out every zombie in the area.
  • Fire Sale: Every Mystery Box appears for a certain amount of time. Furthermore, it slashes prices 10 points for 30 seconds.
  • Carpenter: This restores all of the barricades.
