How does the new Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition compare to the original release?
Now that Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is out in the wild, let's check out how the original release running on ultra stacks up against it.
The Borderlands 4K remaster was announced for PC and console last week, and includes new content, improved visuals, and all of the original game's DLC. Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition also features co-op play and up to four-player splitscreen co-op. The game was initially leaked almost a year ago, when a listing was spotted on the Korean Game Ratings Board in May 2018.
The revamped edition of the game also includes new weapons along with quality of life improvements.
To check out how it looks compared to 2009's original release - and to take a look at the new features - Arekkz is here to do all the legwork so that we can sit back and chew over the results.
Quality of life changes include the addition of the mini-map which can be toggled on and off, as well as improvements to the inventory system.
In the GotY Edition, players can lock weapons and mark them as junk, while items like money, ammo, and health will be automatically vacuumed up from the ground into your stash without you having to interact with them.
The Shift system from Borderlands 2, and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, is also live in the game. If you're not familiar with it, it basically lets you use codes obtained outside of the game through social media and such, to unlock in-game content. Typically these rewards are Golden Keys.
With Borderlands 3 launching this September, it's a good a time as any to pick up the new and improved original Borderlands. Gearbox has also announced Ultra HD Texture packs for Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, and Borderlands 2, dropping on April 13 for PC and consoles.
Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and is free to existing owners of Borderlands on PC.
