Bloody Roar 5 announcement a hoax

The Twitter account behind this weekend's Bloody Roar 5 "announcement" has revealed itself as a hoaxer.

"New Bloody Roar 5 image!" the account trumpeted, linking to a familiar meme graphic and the message "You all been trolled".

"Sorry people, just wanted to show Konami that their is [sic] still fans of BloodyRoar," the unknown joker later apologised.

Siliconera reports that a deleted tweet on the account claimed Bloody Roar couldn't compete with modern fighters.

The Twitter account had been in sporadic use since at least March, when Konami finalised its acquisition of Bomberman and Bloody Roar developer Hudson. The publisher hasn't commented on the situation.

Bloody Roar 4, the most recent entry in the series, released on PS2 in 2003. The franchise features characters with the ability to transform into anthropomorphic animal forms.
