Bloodstained's troubled Switch version should be in much better shape by the end of November
The developers of Bloodstained believe that many of the Switch port's issues will be addressed (relatively) soon.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night launched this year to moderate critical acclaim, as long as you weren't playing it on Nintendo Switch. Shortly after the game's launch, 505 Games promised that the Switch version would receive major improvements that would bring it in line with the other console versions.
In July, the team behind the game promised again that improvements were coming, and in August an internal resource shift was undertaken to speed up development on a major Switch patch. And now, finally, we've got some idea of when we can update our Switch copies of Bloodstained and play it through a hopefully less compromised version.
In a new post on the game's Kickstarter, the team has stated that two major updates are coming to the Switch version of the game, both of which should have launched before the end of November. The first update will "contain the vast majority of the improvements", which will focus on four key areas.
Here's what they had to say about the four areas they're focused on:
Visual Fidelity: The way that backgrounds and environments are rendered are being significantly updated. This will result in noticeably sharper environments in most areas throughout the game.
Loading Times: Load times between scenes are being greatly improved, but are still not where we would like them to be, so work remains.
Particle Effects: We have already replaced hundreds of particle effects with new assets and more yet remain. The new ones look the same to the user, but are much less impactful on the performance of the game. This has been one of the main culprits for framerate drops during fights.
Input Lag: Input lag times have been significantly reduced, once work on this is completed the game should feel much more reactive when playing.
So there you go. Of course, if you're multiplatform, a currently superior version of Bloodstained is currently up on Xbox Game Pass. If you're holding out for the Switch improvements, though, hold on a little longer.
