Bloodborne guide: how to get Insight
Bloodborne introduces a new currency called Insight. What is it, what can you do with it, and most importantly, how can you get a lot of it?
Bloodborne guide: how to get Insight
Bloodborne's Insight is much less mysterious than Dark Souls' Humanity or Demon's Souls' World Tendency. It acts as a gating device:
- You need one Insight to level up.
- You need ten Insight to use the Insight Bath Messenger Shop.
- You need 30 Insight before you can invade another player's game.
- At certain thresholds of Insight, such as 15, enemies will power up.
It is believed that various other events are also tied to your Insight, although at present we don't have a comprehensive list.
So that's Insight - a second currency. What do you do with it?
What is Insight for?
You may want to spend Insight in various ways through the game, as well as needing it for the concepts above.
- You can buy several cool things from the Insight Bath Messenger shop outside the chapel in Hunter's Dream.
- You can spend a point of Insight to summon co-op help.
Insight cannot be lost through death.
Earning Insight
You can have up to 99 Insight. Insight is earned in the following ways:
- One point of Insight for entering a boss arena
- Two points of Insight for beating a boss
- One point of Insight for consuming a Madman's Knowledge item
- One point of Insight for defeating a boss while assisting during co-op.
- One point of Insight for defeating a player you've invaded.
- Various Insight rewards for speaking with NPCs and completing quests
Of these, only three represent infinitely exploitable resources. So if you want to farm Insight, you can try the following:
- Madman's Knowledge items can be purchased from the Bath Messenger, so you can just farm Blood Echoes and buy them up.
- You can be summoned to participate in co-op battles as often as you like.
- You can invade another player's world as often as you like.
To participate in co-op as a guest rather than a host, you need the Small Resonant Bell. It can be purchased from the Insight Bath Messenger Shop in Hunter's Dream.
Lore-wise, Insight makes a great deal of sense. It represents the player's deepening understanding of the nightmarish conditions of Yharnam. Possibly that means slipping further into madness?
