Blizzard might have to change Heroes of the Storm's name yet again

Only a week after Blizzard revealed Heroes of the Storm to be the new name of its contender to the MOBA throne (previously titled Blizzard DOTA and Blizzard All-Stars) a Finnish board game designer whose game "Myrskyn sankarit" translates to "Heroes of the Storm" has suggested Blizzard might have to change the game's name one more time. Now while the designer of the IndieGoGo funded pen and paper RPG, Mike Pohjola has filed a Finnish trademark for his game, Blizzard previously secured "Heroes of the Storm "in the United States and Europe in late September, while Pohjola's application was launched in early October. Whether the July launch of Pohjola's IndieGoGo campaign has any legal implications is beyond this journalist's ability to research in a timely manner.

While it seems unlikely that Blizzard will have to change its MOBA's name yet again, there is some precedent for European board games changing video game titles, such as Double Fine's Iron Brigade, which was originally named Trenched until a WW1 board game designer asserted his trademark on the name.
