Blizzard confirms Titan codename for next MMO

Blizzard chief Frank Pearce confirmed to D'Toid at the VGAs last month that Titan is the codename of the company's newest MMO.

The name was previously mentioned in a supposedly leaked release schedule, which had the MMO down for a late 2013 release.

The slate also featured a late 2011 release for Diablo III and StarCraft II expansion Heart of the Swarm, as well as the next World of Warcraft expansion.

"Titan is... the media is not meant to know anything about that," Pearce told the site.

"It's our next gen MMO and we've only started talking about it in a limited fashion because we want to leverage the fact that we're working on something like that for the purpose of recruiting – getting some of the best talent in the industry on that."

The last heard on the secret MMO was at Blizzcon last year, when Blizzard EVP Rob Pardo said a reveal was not expected for at least another year.

Blizzard president Mike Morhaime said at the event that the new title can co-exist with WoW.

"We’re not trying to replace World of Warcraft," he said in California in October.

"We think that World of Warcraft can continue co-existing with our new MMO, and [while] some people might prefer the new one, some people might still prefer to play World of Warcraft."
