Bleszinski: Hacking "scary" and a "major problem" for devs

Epic's Cliff Bleszinski has said it's "scary" being a games developer in a world seemingly full of hackers.

"It f***ing sucked!" the outspoken designer said of the PlayStation Network hack, speaking to IndustryGamers.

" ... It’s just a shame. It cost them an untold amount of money; I know developers who couldn’t put their betas out there because of it. I mean, it was a major problem.

"So it’s pretty scary to be a game developer, especially when you talk about there being a connected future."

Bleszinski commented on Microsoft's hacker-friendly approach to homebrew Kinect development, and said dealing with these kinds of organisations can be tricky.

"I think dealing with hackers is a very sensitive thing, because if you p**s off ... the wrong hacker group, they can really get to your stuff and mess you up," he said.

Epic's website and forums were hacked earlier this month.
