BlackFoot Kickstarter aims to "restore PC gaming to its former glory"
Developers from the original Rainbow Six, Rogue Spear and Ghost Recon teams have formed BlackFoot Studios with the intention of creating a FPS that avoids the "rinse-repeat gameplay of today’s so called 'Tactical Shooters'", but they need your help.
In a Kickstarter video pitch, BlackFoot Studios founder and former Red Storm Entertainment lead artist, John Sonedecker, has spoken of the team's desire to create Ground Branch, a tactical FPS "where your choices as a player matter and have real consequences in game."
Sonedecker goes on to say that "Ground Branch's design focuses on details that you cannot find in today's tactical shooters", while the video shows fully customisable gear and weapons, equipment encumbrance and differing weapon reload behaviour depending on whether or not there's a ammo left in the clip.
Ground Branch is being developed with input from United States Special Operations Command and is intended as a counterpoint to "the standard run, gun, die, respawn, shoot, die, unlock a weapon, rinse-repeat gameplay of today’s so called 'Tactical Shooters'".
BlackFoot Studios is aiming to reach a Kickstarter target of $425,000. At the time of writing, it has 21 days to go and has attained ten percent of its target. The full video pitch is below.
All being well, Ground Branch will launch on PC and Mac in "late Summer 2013", more details can be found on the game's official website.
