Black Ops 3 will be released on PS3 and Xbox 360

Yep, you read that right. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be a cross-gen release. "But it'll wreck the game!", I hear you cry. Apparently not.

The announcement was made on the Activision blog courtesy of Activision Communications Manager, Scott Lowe.

Lowe acknowledged that "there are still some fans that haven’t made the transition to the new console hardware, which is why we’re happy to share that we're working with developers Beenox and Mercenary Technology on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3."

He went on to confirm that there would indeed be some changes between the version on this generation of consoles, compared to what would be possible for the 360 and PS3.

"For instance, the campaign mode on Xbox 360 and PS3 is currently in development with a goal of enabling two-player cooperative play, instead of the four-player cooperative campaign on next-gen. There will also be some other features and functionality built specifically for the new generation of consoles that cannot be supported on Xbox 360 and PS3."

He also touched on the multiplayer beta, which will only be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is due on November 6 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and of course, PS3 and Xbox 360.
