BioWare will reveal its new IP soon, says EA
BioWare will start talking about a new IP soon.
While everyone is anxious to see more of Mass Effect: Andromeda, developer BioWare is busy working on an unannounced game that it hopes to reveal in some way soon.
EA Studios executive Patrick Soderlund was asked by GamesIndustry if the fact that many of the publisher's studios are working on Star Wars games means that new IPs from the publisher will take place in that universe.
"We decided to take a couple of our best development teams, from the whole ecosystem, and put them on Star Wars. They could have built new IP otherwise, but the opportunity for us as a company, and for our development teams, what we can build within that framework," Soderlund said, adding that developers are "so happy" about the opportunity.
BioWare, on the other hand, has a new IP in development that will be revealed soon, though the executive didn't give any hints as to what we can expect. "We've been very open about the fact that Bioware is working on a new IP, and we'll get to talk about that in the not too distant future," he said.
"We have other teams working on new IP as well. I think it's about a balance, right? Making sure that we continue to push what great looks like for Battlefield or FIFA or Madden - or Star Wars, for that matter - while continuing to invest in something new."
BioWare's other big game, Mass Effect: Andromeda is due for release in early 2017. We've yet to see gameplay footage of the title, but we're told a reveal is coming "at the right time".
