BioWare: "We need a chance to take advantage" of current hardware
BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk has told VG247 the studio's not aware of any current plans for new console hardware, and hopes to have more time with current offerings.
Speaking with Joe Anderson at Develop this afternoon, Zeschuk said the new motion controls from Sony and Microsoft prove console makers want to extend the life of current systems, and the "longer we can go" without new hardware "the better".
"I honestly don’t actually know," he said, when asked for a ballpark date.
"That’s a huge mystery for me. I would be ecstatic if it was as long as possible," he said. "The longer the better, because we need a chance to take advantage of this hardware. The first couple of years of this cycle were pretty tough, as [the consoles] were more complex than ever before. Now we’re all starting to get our legs under us.
"I think the fact they’re all doing the new input devices in indicative that they want to extend it.
"I don’t have any idea what the year might be, but my hope is that it’s as long as possible. The longer we can go the better".
