BioWare boss details sample "rescue Leia" mission from The Old Republic
LucasArts MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic is the biggest game BioWare's ever made. But what are you actually going to do in it? Company bosses Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk told us that you're going to be rescuing princesses, in the name of holy God. Not actually in his name, but you know what we mean.
Said Muzyka: "Wouldn't it be cool to be part of a mission team - Obi-wan Kenobi and Luke, C3PO and R2D2 and Han and Chewie - going to rescue Leia. Break the tractor beam, free up your Millennium Falcon and take off from the Death Star? Wouldn't it be cool to take part in a quest to do that in a massively multiplayer game?"
"But you will have to play for 4,000 years, be part of the game for that long to be able to do so," joked Zeschuk. The game's set thousands of years before any of the characters Ray mentioned came to exist in the Star Wars universe.
"It would be cool, though. It's a great idea, and, again, it's something that we're striving for," said Ray.
"Yeah, think of those epic moments, those iconic moments, the iconic classes and the things you get to do in those roles," Zeschuk added in seriousness.
We're thinking, Greg. No date on the game as yet.
