Bill Gates would be okay with spinning off Xbox division should Nadella want to

Microsoft's co-founder Bill Gates, said today that should current CEO Satya Nadella want to spin off the Xbox, or Bing divisions, he would absolutely support it.

Speaking to Fox Business in an interview, Gates was a asked if Microsoft would consider spinning off the Xbox or Bing divisions, like it did with Expedia and Slate in the past, he said, "Well, we're taking PC gaming — Windows gaming — and Xbox gaming and bringing those a lot closer together," Gates said. "The power of the PC graphics chips means you can do great games there. So I'm sure Satya and the team will look at that, and, you know, it's up to them. But we're going to have an overall gaming strategy, so it's not as obvious as you might think."

He was then later asked if he would support that decision if it was made by CEO Satya Nadella, to which he said, "Absolutely."

Recent comments made by Microsoft's newly-appointed head of Xbox division, Phil Spencer, suggest that Nadella is fully committed to the Xbox and gaming divisions of the firm.

Thanks, Polygon.
