Bigger storage capacity for Blu-rays coming soon
According to a Nikkei report, Blu-rays with upwards of 33Gb are on the way.
So far, developers creating PS3 games have only been able to use 25Gb Blu-ray discs: the only exception to the rule is Metal Gear Solid 4, which used a 50Gb disc.
Now though, Sony and Panasonic's solved the problem by removing the "jitter collapses" caused by "high-density recording", by creating an evaluation index codenamed "i-MLSE."
Sony is hoping I-MLSE will be adapted as standard by the Blu-ray Disc Association: an organisation of which Sony is a key member.
