Beyond: Two Souls remaster fixes original's frame rate issues
As you'd expect, Beyond: Two Souls runs a lot better on PS4 than PlayStation 3.
Beyond: Two Souls was developed with the PS4 in mind, so it's kind of a shame it had to release on PlayStation 3 - and that the recent PS4 remaster has received little attention since its PlayStation Store launch right in the middle of flipping release season. What the heck, Sony?
Anyway, Eurogamer's Digital Foundry has had a good, hard look at the remaster, and come away more than a little impressed. According to the site's report, the higher resolution provides the "sharpness of a full 1080p image; less shimmer on high contrast textures, and reduced pixel crawl".
Lighting and shadows have enjoyed major improvements, along with less dramatic polishing to some other effects, but the real upgrade is to the frame rate, which stays solid at 30fps. So what? So: the original suffered stuttering and some very nasty, noticeable drops from its cinematic target.
