Beyond the Bounds: ZoE3, ZoE 3DS no shows at TGS
There was to be no unveil of a new Zone of the Enders game, as hoped, at Kojima Productions' stage show for the series at Tokyo Game Show this morning.
It was speculated that, finally, fans would get the long-wanted announcement of Zone of the Enders 3, or at least the announcement of what seemed to be a 3DS title following a tease at gamescom. The very minimum was properly new gameplay footage from the HD Collection.
None of the three never turned up.
Series producer Hideo Kojima, Zone of the Enders 2 director & Metal Gear Solid 4 co-director Shuryo Mutyra and art director Yoji Shinkawa all took part in the show, which seen it discuss development on Zone of the Enders 1 and 2 from the beginning.
Following the discussions, the Japanese voice actors of Dingo Egret, Ken Marinaris and Leo Stenbuck from ZoE2 were then wheeled out on stage to discuss their involvement, which was then followed by two live voiceover sessions from all three actors from scenes in The Second Runner.
The first featured a scene between Dingo in Jehuty talking to Leo in his Orbital Frame, Vic Viper, midway through the game - Leo was the original Runner of Jehuty in ZoE1.
The second had Dingo again, but this time featured Ken and her Orbital Frame Ardjet. Just for emphasis, the scene was done twice.
Both clips from the game were running from the upcoming HD Collection coming next year for PS3, 360 and Vita. Following those performances, the tease Kojima Productions has been showing all week at the Sony TGS press conference and its first stage show on Thursday for the pack was then shown.
Things took a very, very left turn near the end when we thought we were about to hear of a new game announcement that wasn't Zone of the Enders. A logo for something called Guy Savage appeared on screen. But it was never an announcement in the first place: Guy Savage was a mini-game hack-and-slash that was directed by Murata that was in Metal Gear Solid 3.
It was supposedly meant to be its own fully-fledged release, but thats obviously not happened.
It would prove to be it was as exciting as it got, besides news of figures based on Jehuty, Vic Viper and Anubis getting releases between November and sometime next year at the end.
The wait continues.
