Sci-fi rogue-lite Beacon is out now on Steam Early Access
Beacon is a new top-down, sci-fi shooter from Monothetic.
In Beacon, you play as one of many clones of privateer Freja Akiyama, who's stranded on a hostile planet. Your goal is to reach a distress beacon and call for help, but, this being a rogue-lite, you won't be able to achieve it so easily.
Every death spawns another clone and presents a new opportunity for you to try all over again. To make things more interesting, Beacon features a mutations system. As you play, you'll absorb enemy DNA, which you can later use to alter the making of your future clones.
This can be anything from simple stat boosts to more involved active abilities. Beacon boasts a procedurally generated world full of enemies to shoot, and weapons to find, and equip.
The game just hit Steam Early Access, and developer Monothetic says the full release is coming before the end of the year.
The current version already has most of the game's content and features, and the team will be using Early Access to expand on it with new enemies, items, a new level, as well as balance tweaks where necessary. Hit the link above for more, and watch the launch trailer below:
