Bayonetta for Switch makes a lot of sense, and if you squint your eyes this tweet sure looks to be teasing that
Bayonetta 1 and 2 for Switch? yeah sure, why not.
Bayonetta developer Platinum Games has raised hopes among Switch owners by releasing an image that could be construed as a tease.
Posting on a newly established Japanese-language Twitter channel, the studio directed fans to its various social media presences and included an image of Bayonetta as she appears in both the eponymous games so far.
The image is divided into two sections, one red and one blue. While the Bayonetta logo on the first game is red but blue on the second one, the shades chosen are much more reminiscent of the Switch's default JoyCon colouring.
Coincidence - or a deliberate hint? Since Bayonetta 2 was a Wii U exclusive funded by Nintendo and the series has significant cult appeal, it would make a lot of sense for both games to be re-released for Switch. We know Nintendo's pretty keen on the IP, since Bayonetta was added to Super Smash Bros.
Social media has been very busy since the tweet first appeared with Bayonetta fans swearing up and down that they'll buy the original game a third or even fourth time, so with any luck Nintendo and Platinum will make Bayonetta Switch happen. If it sells well, who knows what might happen? We do know Platinum is talking about Bayonetta 3 internally, though.
The first Bayonetta released in 2009 for PS3 and Xbox 360 and was the most successful product of a multi-game deal between Platinum and Sega. It was later re-released for Wii U alongside the sequel and even PC; the Steam release of Bayoneta has sold over 100,000 units.
Sequel Bayonetta 2 followed in 2014, and has not been ported beyond the Wii U.
