Bayonetta 3 development is still "progressing smoothly" three years after it was first announced, says Hideki Kamiya
Development of Bayonetta 3 is progressing smoothly, three years after the game was first announced in 2017.
Speaking in the latest issue of Famitsu (via Siliconera), series creator Hideki Kamiya confirmed the third entry in the Bayonetta series is still in development and "progressing smoothly."
"Actually, there’s a lot of info hidden in the teaser announcement in 2017," he adds.
Bayonetta 3 was first announced for Nintendo Switch with a trailer during the 2017 Game Awards. Running at just under a minute long, the teaser video shows Bayonetta being shot by bolts of electricity before repaying the compliment with six bullets. The bullets appear to hit an invisible wall made of a purple-ish electric veil then disintegrating. At the end of the teaser, Bayonetta's feet are seen buckling underneath her and she drops her two guns.
Platinum Games is in the process of releasing a new Bayonetta and Vanquish 10th Anniversary Bundle to the West. A Japanese version of the bundle will launch on May 28th of this year.
The first Bayonetta released in 2009 for PS3 and Xbox 360 and was the most successful product of a multi-game deal between Platinum and Sega. It was later re-released for Wii U alongside the sequel and even PC; the Steam release of Bayoneta has since sold over 100,000 units.
