Battlerite Royale will merge MOBA and Battle Royale this week
Battlerite Royale brings a fantasy MOBA formula to the Battle Royale genre. Also, werebears.
With the success of Fortnite and PUBG, we're seeing many new Battle Royale games enter the market - although few mix up the formula in any significant way. Battlerite Royale might just be an exception, giving the Fortnite formula a fantasy-inspired coat of paint and mixing it with the original's MOBA gameplay. And with an Early Access launch this week, we'll find out fairly soon how promising it can be.
From a visual perspective, Battlerite Royale is quite similar to Battlerite's critically-acclaimed arena brawler, but much bigger. The top-down gameplay and skill-based combat has been preserved, but is expanded across Talon Island - a setting 30x larger than previous Battlerite maps.
Players fall to Talon Island from a flying wyvern, and must defeat all other opponents across the match. Treasure and loot is available across the island to aid you, including unique equipment like the "Werebear item". As you can see from the trailer, this is exactly what it sounds like.
Battlerite Royale will launch for Steam Early Access on Wednesday September 26, 2018. If Battle Royale is here to stay, let's keep these gameplay variations coming.
