Battlefield series turns 10 today: over 50 million served
DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson celebrated the 10-year anniversary of Battlefield at GDC Europe today.
Troedsson, who is also celebrating the 20-year anniversary of DICE, announced the series has "served" over 50 million players since its inception. He went on to reveal the developer is still "in love" with the "core franchise."
As of last November, Battlefield 3 had shipped over 12 million copies worldwide. A Premium Edition of the game has been spotted on Amazon Canada, possibly to celebrate a decade of the franchise.
Battlefield 4 is on the way, with a 2013 release date expected.
Thanks, Joystiq.
