Battlefield is getting a mobile game next year

EA is working on a new Battlefield game for mobile.

EA has announced today that a new Battlefield game is in the works alongside this year's PC and console game. This project is specifically designed for mobile, and it's coming to phones and tablets in 2022.

The new Battlefield mobile is not a port of any existing game; it is a standalone product. It is the work of developer Industrial Toys alongside series creator DICE. Testing has already begun, but EA did not share any other details about that game.

Today's blog post announcing the mobile project has also confirmed that this year's big Battlefield game for PC and consoles has had one more studio join its team: EA Gothenburg. The Swedish studio is "taking technology in the game to the next level."

EA Gothenburg joins the already announced DICE LA, Criterion, and of course, DICE's core team in Sweden. That means there are currently four studios all working on the Battlefield game due out later this year, which EA says makes it the biggest Battlefield development team ever.

Unfortunately, EA also didn't reveal anything we didn't already know about this year's highly-anticipated game, promising to share more "soon."

"It has everything we love about Battlefield – and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs," wrote Oskar Gabrielson, DICE general manager, about this year's game.
