Battlefield 5 Gun Upgrades Guide - How to Customize Your Weapon Specializations

There are weapons of all shapes and sizes in Battlefield 5, and each one can be kitted out with a number of customizations. In this Battlefield 5 weapon upgrades guide, we'll be walking you through everything you need to know to go about customizing your weapons as easily as possible.

Battlefield 5 Gun Specializations Guide

Firstly, you’ll start out Battlefield 5 with a single weapon unlocked in each class in the game. The assault class starts with the Sturmgewehr 1-5, the medic starts with the Sten, the support class starts with the KE7, and the recon class begins with the Lee-Enfield No. 4.

You’ll note that each of these four classes has their own individual rank. You can increase this rank by simply playing with the specific class, and you’ll see that it’s this class rank that unlocks new weapons for each class. For example, you’ll unlock the STG 44 once you hit level 13 with the assault class, so your overall rank in Battlefield 5 has no bearing on the weapons you unlock.

Getting into even finer details, each weapon in Battlefield 5 has a rank. For example, you can see that the Sturmgewehr 1-5 just below is at rank 5, and we’ve increased this rank by simply using the weapon in online matches.

The ‘Specializations’ section of a weapon is where you can upgrade it, but there’s a catch. You begin Battlefield 5 with the Specializations of each weapon predetermined, and you won’t be able to change these upgrades until you reach rank 5 with that particular weapon. So, if you want to customize the upgrades of a weapon, you’re going to have to level it up to rank 5.

But, once you have hit level 5 with a weapon, you can head to the Specializations section of the weapon, and opt to ‘Reset’ all options. Doing this doesn’t cost you any Company Coins, and it basically lets you select your own perks for the weapon. Think your weapon recoils upwards too much when you hold down the trigger? You can select the ‘Recoil Buffer’ Specialization, which reduces this.
