Brown: Battlefield 3 sells 8 million, ships 12 million

EA chief financial officer Eric Brown told the Baird Technology Conference yesterday that Battlefield 3 has been purchased 8 million times.
As reported by GameInformer, Brown also revealed the publisher has shipped 12 million copies. 10 million units were shipped to retailers in the game's first week.
During the same period, 5 million copies of the DICE shooter had been sold, EA's largest launch ever.
While the sales probably don't approach those of rival Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, EA didn't expect them to, being content to take some of Activision's market share.
Battlefield 3 is available now on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
