Battlefield 2042's mysterious second experience brings back classic maps
DICE is slowly revealing details about Battlefield 2042's second major experience.
The first episode of EA Play Live Spotlight had a focus on first-person shooters. Though it did not bring us a lot of news to talk about, it did reveal few more hints about the Ripple Effect (DICE LA)-developed mode in Battlefield 2042.
Ripple Effect's GM, Christian Grass, was one the panellists, and he opened up somewhat about the mode his team is working on. According to Grass, the new experience will incorporate some of the series' fan-favourite maps into Battlefield 2042. This is fairly in-line with the mode's official description, which billed it as a "love letter to core fans."
It also lends credence to some of the leaks around the mode. Dubbed Battlefield Hub, the experience is said to encompass more than just remasters of classic maps, but extend to weapons, vehicles and scenarios from older Battlefield games. Rumours suggest it will be a sandbox experience designed for action, and not necessarily the most balanced.
Ripple Effect's experience will be officially revealed at EA Play Live on July 22, leaving Hazard Zone - Battlefield 2042's third experience - to be unveiled closer to the game's launch.
Battlefield 2042 is out October 22 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
