Battlefield 1943 finally released on PC [Update]

battlefield1943

Update: Oh. According to this EA tweet, "BF 1943 PC is not available. This is an error on EA store. We are working to sort it out."

Original: Apparently 2010's the year they finally ran out of fine wines, busty women, and 12 foot-tall chocolate fountains over in Vaporware Land.

First, Duke Nukem Forever quit stalling, and now Battlefield 1943's PC version has finally crossed the finish line.

So, after more than a year of pacing, screaming to the heavens that "It's over. No, I mean it this time!" and then angrily pacing some more, what's your reward? Why, it's the game, silly! Huh? Where's the confetti? The cake with doves, magicians, and tigers inside?

Sorry, folks. No fanfare here. EA's tossed the game up on its digital store, and you can buy it - as per most videogame releases.

Previously, EA canceled preorders for the perpetually "almost done" port and refused to pin down any sort of release date.

And now, without any real warning, it's sitting on virtual shelves. EA, you got some 'splainin' to do. Well, ok, you don't "got" to do anything, but if we were cats, our curiosity would have found a way to commit genocide on our entire species by now. So come on: why the wait?
